Ct v Tameside Lightening 27/10/12

Saturday 27th October:  Cheadle Thunder 65 - Tameside Lightning 3

(Half time score: Cheadle Thunder 30 - Tameside Lightning 1)

At the start of the game Thunder were outnumbered in every respect.  On the court we had just four players: Joe, Josh, Dan and Matt.  Lightning had about ten.  Off the court, the Lightning benches were packed with parents, our bench was empty.

But once the game got underway it was a different story.  Thunder were bigger, stronger, fitter, faster and simply much better than their opponents. Lightning would come forwards and time and again, Thunder stole or intercepted the ball with Joe and Josh tearing down the court to put away two points.

All four players gave 100% and it showed - even with a player advantage and Thunder tiring towards the end, Lightning never broke the boys down.  When Lightning got their one free-play basket towards the end of the game, Josh had restored the points difference within ten seconds.

Joe scored an excellent three-pointer in the second half, but everyone more than played their part.

Although it was another easy game against less experienced opponents, four-man Thunder can be proud of how they handled it.  If the team plays that well and gives that much for 40 minutes in future, they'll be beating much better teams.
